CHARLOTTETOWN -- Troy Howatt, the Referee-in-Chief for Hockey P.E.I., is pleased to announce that the week of February 6th to 15th will be minor-hockey officials' week.

The purpose to this campaign will be to recognize the efforts of the hundreds of dedicated people who officiate minor hockey in associations throughout the province. It is the opinion of Howatt that the work of these people is a huge part of the minor-hockey programs across the Island.

Throughout the coming week, minor-hockey officials will have the opportunity to take part in the pre-game routines of senior officials, as they get ready to officiate in such leagues as Atlantic University Sport, the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, and the Island Junior Hockey League.
Local referees-in-chief will be nominating some of their officials as "Official of the day" throughout the week.

More information about officials' week, as well as other details about hockey officiating on P.E.I. can be found on the referees' association's web site, at www.peihra.com.
